🚫 Customer Decisioning is NOT a tech and data maturity problem
Too many folks treat decisioning in marketing like a tech stack race.
“Just get the data platform right, add some ML, integrate CDP, and you're done.”
Wrong.
📌 Customer decisioning is not a technology challenge. It’s a business alignment challenge.
Customer decisioning is nothing but operationalizing the decisions that influence customers at various stages.
Think about it…
At every point in a journey e.g. acquisition, onboarding, upsell, retention, recovery there's a decision to be made.
These decisions are driven by eligibility, contact policies, regulatory requirements, customers’ behavior and preferences, etc., based on the company's strategic direction and goals.
For examples,
⭕ do we reduce churn in this quarter or drive more sales?
⭕ do we push today's promo or build trust for next year?
This means…
💡 Customer decisioning nothing but operationalizing the decisions behind every choice you make about your customer.
Not just recommending something using data and AI/ML, but deciding why, when, and in what context.
That's alignment.
That's how you move from personalization to optimization driven by decisions not your data and analytics capabilities.
Here's how you should go about it:
1️⃣ Identify decisions that influence the customer choices
2️⃣ Decompose and model those decisions
3️⃣ Operationalize those decisions within the customer journey
What do those decisions do?
They become the best decision at each stage, delivering the Next Best Actions (NBAs) in the channel to engage the clients in the moment.
💥No more data delay, random ML models and cluttered orchestration and embedded rules.
🚀Let best decision at each stage works out its best next actions!
That's how you apply Decision-Centric Approach to NBAs.
That's how you win.
